FAQs (46)

1What is the UptoSkills Faculty Dashboard?
It is the workspace for a training and placement officer or department coordinator. From one place you invite and manage your students, post college notices and an academic calendar, track every job and internship your students applied to, approve companies that want to run a placement drive, and reach out to new recruiters. It also has a Growth Hub with free Faculty Development Programs for your own professional development.
2Do I need to pay to use the UptoSkills Faculty Dashboard?
No. Adding and inviting students, posting notices, the academic calendar, the placement tracker, analytics, approving campus drives, and attending Faculty Development Programs are all free. Only two things spend coins: broadcasting a notice by email or WhatsApp, and Corporate Outreach. Every faculty account starts with 1000 free coins.
3Can more than one faculty member from the same college use UptoSkills?
Yes. Colleagues register their own faculty accounts against the same college, and students added by any of you appear in the same College Hub. Data unlocked by one faculty member, such as a company already searched in Corporate Outreach, is free for the rest of the college afterwards.
4What does the Live, Pending or Rejected badge mean on a faculty account?
It is your college verification status, shown under "Faculty Dashboard" in the sidebar. Live means verified and fully active. Pending means your submission is still being reviewed. Rejected means something needs correcting — use Contact Us in the dashboard to find out what.
5Where do students see the notices and calendar a faculty member posts?
In their own student dashboard under Academics, which shows your college notices and the academic calendar together, along with an upcoming events list. Students do not need the mobile app to see them, though the app adds push notifications.
6How do I add students to my college on UptoSkills?
Go to My College, open the Students tab and click Add Students. The Single tab adds one student with their name, email, mobile, course, program and batch. The Bulk tab imports an entire batch from a spreadsheet. Either way each student is emailed a private registration link that ties their account to your College Hub.
7Can I import my whole student list from Excel?
Yes. Add Students has a Bulk tab that accepts .xlsx, .xls and .csv files through a four-step wizard: upload the file, map your columns onto the right fields, review and edit the parsed rows, then see a results report. Because you map your own column names, an export straight out of your college ERP usually works without being rewritten.
8What columns does the UptoSkills student import file need?
Name, Email, Mobile, Course, Program and Batch. Click Download Template in the Add Students modal to get Student_Import_Template.xlsx with exactly those headers. You do not have to match them precisely, because the mapping step lets you point your own column names at the right fields.
9Does adding or inviting students cost coins?
No. Adding students, bulk importing, sending invitations and resending them are all free. Coins are only spent when you broadcast a notice by email or WhatsApp, or when you use Corporate Outreach.
10Why is a student missing from my College Hub?
Almost always because they signed up on their own rather than through your invite link. Only students who join using the private registration link sent from your dashboard are attached to your College Hub. Add them from your side and have them use that link.
11What happens if a student already has an UptoSkills account?
They receive a different email that links their existing account to your college rather than asking them to create a new one. They keep all their existing progress, XP, certificates and applications.
12What do the counters at the top of the College Hub mean?
Total Candidates is everyone on your roster whether invited or not. Registered is students who accepted the invite and now have an account. Invites Sent is those invited but not registered yet. Action Required is entries that need something fixed before they can be invited. The gap between Invites Sent and Registered is your follow-up list.
13Can faculty track where their students applied for jobs?
Yes. My College has a Tracker tab showing every job and internship each registered student applied to, with the stage each application reached, the salary or stipend range and the date applied. It updates automatically as students apply and as employers move them along, so neither you nor the students have to maintain it.
14What do the application stages in the Student Tracker mean?
Applied means the application is submitted and the employer has not acted on it yet. Offer Letter Sent means the employer has made an offer. The stages come directly from the employer's own hiring pipeline, so they change without anyone at your college updating them.
15Does the UptoSkills placement tracker include jobs students applied to elsewhere?
No. It covers applications made through UptoSkills. An offer a student received directly from a company outside the platform will not appear there.
16How do I get placement statistics for one graduating batch?
Open My College and switch to the Analytics tab, then set the BATCH dropdown to that graduating year. Every chart filters at once, including registration status, job application status, course distribution, top companies by selection, internship applications, salary distribution and highest package.
17Where do I find the highest package for my college?
It is one of the four headline figures on the Analytics tab of My College, shown alongside the company that offered it. For an honest placement report, read it next to the Salary Distribution chart, which shows the whole spread rather than just the top figure.
18Why is a registered student not showing in the Student Tracker?
The Tracker only covers students who have actually registered. Anyone still showing as Invites Sent has no account yet, so there is nothing to track. Resend their invitation from the Students tab.
19How do I send a notice to all my students?
Go to Academics, open the Notices tab and click Create Notice. Give it a title, a priority level of Low, Normal, High or Urgent, an optional banner image and the body text, then post it. To actively push it out, use Broadcast and choose your channels: in-app notification, email or WhatsApp.
20How much does it cost to broadcast a college notice by email?
The first two recipients are free, then it is roughly one coin per five students. A broadcast to 100 students costs about 20 coins. In-app notifications are always completely free, so leave that channel switched on regardless.
21How much does a WhatsApp notice broadcast cost on UptoSkills?
One coin per student who receives it, which makes it about five times the price of email. It is worth saving for genuinely urgent, same-day messages. With 1000 free coins on a new account you have plenty of room, but the cost difference is real.
22Why did only some students receive my WhatsApp notice?
WhatsApp messages only go to students who have verified their mobile number. Students without a verified mobile still get the in-app notification and the email. You are only charged for the students who could actually receive it.
23Can I send a college notice to only one class or batch?
Yes. The broadcast screen lets you select exactly which students receive it, so you can limit a notice to a single batch, course or group of students rather than the whole college.
24Can faculty see which students read a notice?
Yes. Every notice carries a views count in the list, and opening it shows which students viewed it. That is useful when you need to demonstrate that a circular was actually circulated.
25What happens if I run out of coins during a notice broadcast?
The broadcast is rejected before anything is sent, with a message telling you how many coins were needed. Nothing goes out half-finished and you are not charged.
26Can I import my college academic calendar from Excel?
Yes. Under Academics, open the Academic Calendar tab and click Import Excel, then Download Template to get Academic_Calendar_Template.xlsx. It accepts .xlsx, .xls and .csv, and lets you map your own column names, so most colleges import a whole year in one go and add later revisions as single events.
27What columns and date format does the UptoSkills academic calendar importer use?
Event Title, Start Date, End Date, Category and Description. Dates are day/month/year, for example 15/10/2026. A multi-day event such as a break uses different start and end dates; a one-day placement drive uses the same date in both columns.
28What event categories can I use in the academic calendar?
Five: Exam / Assessment for exams and internal assessments, Holiday for breaks and closures, Placement / Drive for company visits, Faculty Leave for staff absence affecting classes, and Custom Event for anything else such as fests or guest lectures. Each is colour-coded and can be filtered on its own.
29How do companies request a placement drive at my college?
Requests arrive under Corporate Collaboration in the Campus Requests tab, sorted into Pending, Approved and Rejected. Each shows the request date, how many students the company wants, how many of yours have applied, and the programs, courses and years being asked for, so you can check the fit before approving.
30When do HR contact details unlock for a campus placement drive?
Once enough of your students have applied. The threshold is the company's own requested headcount, not a fixed platform rule, so a drive asking for 10 students unlocks at 10 and one asking for 30 unlocks at 30. The panel shows exactly how many have applied so far. It is not a waiting period — it only moves when students apply, so share the drive after approving it.
31Do students apply to campus drives through faculty or directly?
Directly. Faculty approve the drive and make sure students know about it; students apply themselves. Their applications then show up in the faculty Student Tracker automatically.
32When should faculty reject a campus placement request?
Reject when the requirements genuinely do not match what your college offers, such as a drive for a branch you do not teach or a batch year you do not have. Approving a mismatched drive wastes your students' time and leaves a request whose HR details can never unlock.
33How do I find HR contacts to invite companies for campus placement?
Use Corporate Outreach in the Faculty Dashboard. Search a company by name, or by location and industry, or describe what you want in plain language using AI Search. It returns HR, talent acquisition and recruitment contacts at that company, whose emails you can unlock and then invite to run a drive at your college. Unlocked contacts are saved under My Prospects.
34Why does Corporate Outreach say I need more coins when I already have 1000?
The feature requires a balance of more than 1000 coins, and 1000 is exactly the free signup bonus, so a brand-new account cannot use it until it tops up. This is deliberate: each search spends real credits from a paid third-party contact database. Buying any amount of coins from Buy Credits unlocks it.
35How much does it cost to unlock an HR email on UptoSkills?
Five coins, which is five rupees, and it is charged only once — that contact is free for you and every colleague at your college from then on. Searching a company also costs five coins once, and an AI Search query costs five coins, though repeating the exact same query is free. Viewing anything already unlocked never costs anything.
36Do my colleagues pay again for a company I already searched in Corporate Outreach?
No. Once a company or contact has been fetched, it is free for everyone at your college afterwards. It is worth agreeing who searches what so the same company is not paid for twice by accident.
37Why is a large company taking a long time to load in Corporate Outreach?
Very large employers have thousands of matching contacts. When the fast combined lookup stalls, the system automatically switches to a slower method that queries one job title at a time. Leave the tab open and it completes on its own.
38Are Faculty Development Programs on UptoSkills free?
Yes. FDP webinars are free to apply to and attend, and the certificate afterwards is free too. Topics have ranged from generative AI and AI-driven analytics to question paper blueprinting, Indian Knowledge Systems and cloud security. Most sessions are online, so faculty anywhere in India can join.
39Why is my faculty certificate not showing after a webinar?
Certificates are issued after the session is completed and attendance has been processed, so there is a gap between the webinar ending and the certificate appearing under My Certificate. If several days have passed, use Contact Us in the dashboard.
40How do I apply to become a speaker at a Faculty Development Program?
Use Become Speaker in the Growth Hub. The form asks for your name and email, WhatsApp number, location, institution, job title, your availability, the topic you want to cover and a short description of your experience. A narrow, specific topic works far better than a broad one, and concrete availability makes you much easier to schedule.
41What is the difference between credits and coins on a faculty account?
Nothing — they are the same balance under two names. The Buy Credits page calls them credits, while the top bar and the Billing page call them coins. One coin is worth one rupee when you buy them.
42What do UptoSkills faculty plans cost?
The Free plan is free forever and includes a 1000 credit signup bonus and one event creation. The 1 Month plan is Rs.599, reduced from Rs.1999, with 600 credits and one premium event. The 6 Month plan is Rs.2999, reduced from Rs.9999, with 3000 credits, three premium events, a Faculty Badge and 24/7 support. A Custom plan is available for whole departments.
43What actually costs coins on the Faculty Dashboard?
Only three things: email notice broadcasts at roughly one coin per five students, WhatsApp broadcasts at one coin per student, and Corporate Outreach at five coins per company search, HR email unlock or AI query. Everything else — students, notices, in-app notifications, the calendar, the tracker, analytics, campus drives and Faculty Development Programs — is free.
44Do faculty credits expire on UptoSkills?
Credits sit in your balance and are only spent when you use a paid feature. A plan's duration covers that plan's other benefits, while the credits it granted stay in your balance.
45Can I get a GST invoice for my college from UptoSkills?
Yes. Every payment row on the Billing page has an Invoice download that includes the tax breakdown, which is what most college accounts departments need.
46How do I secure my faculty account on UptoSkills?
Open Settings and use the four tabs: change your password under Security & Password, verify your email and mobile, review Active Devices and sign out anything you do not recognise, and set your notification preferences. Turning on two-factor authentication matters most, because a faculty account holds your students' contact details and application history.
