Andhra Pradesh is set to witness a historic milestone as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram on August 1, 2026. The inauguration marks the completion of one of the state's most ambitious infrastructure projects and is expected to transform connectivity, tourism, trade, and economic growth across North Andhra.

Located in Vizianagaram district, the greenfield international airport has been developed to serve the growing aviation needs of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram, and Srikakulam. Built with modern infrastructure and future expansion in mind, the airport features a 3,800-meter runway capable of handling large international aircraft and has an initial passenger handling capacity of nearly six million travelers annually.

The new airport is expected to significantly improve domestic and international air connectivity. Travelers from North Andhra will have access to more direct flight options, reducing dependence on the existing Visakhapatnam Airport. Better connectivity is also expected to attract global businesses, increase investment opportunities, and encourage multinational companies to establish operations in the region.

Tourism is another sector expected to receive a major boost. The scenic beaches, Buddhist heritage sites, Araku Valley, Borra Caves, and other popular attractions in Andhra Pradesh are likely to witness increased visitor numbers as improved accessibility makes travel easier for both domestic and international tourists.

Beyond passenger travel, the airport will strengthen cargo transportation and logistics. Faster movement of agricultural produce, seafood, pharmaceuticals, and industrial goods will benefit exporters and local businesses. Improved freight connectivity can enhance Andhra Pradesh's competitiveness in both national and international markets.

The project has also generated thousands of jobs during construction and is expected to create long-term employment opportunities in aviation, hospitality, transportation, retail, logistics, and airport services. As commercial activities grow around the airport, nearby towns are expected to witness rapid urban development and infrastructure expansion.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has described the Bhogapuram International Airport as a key driver of Andhra Pradesh's long-term development vision. By inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to inaugurate the project, the state government has highlighted its importance as a strategic investment for the future.

With Prime Minister Modi officially inaugurating the airport, Andhra Pradesh enters a new chapter of infrastructure development. The Bhogapuram International Airport is more than just an aviation project. It represents a gateway to greater economic opportunities, stronger global connectivity, and sustainable growth for the entire North Andhra region.

As flights begin operating from this world-class facility, the airport is expected to become a symbol of progress, placing Andhra Pradesh among India's fastest-growing aviation destinations.

The Silent Threat: What is SIM Swapping Fraud and How Do You Stop It?

SIM swapping fraud is a cybercrime where attackers trick your mobile carrier into transferring your phone number to a SIM card they control. This allows them to intercept all your calls, texts, and One-Time Passwords (OTPs), enabling them to access your accounts and steal your money or identity. To protect yourself, avoid SMS-based two-factor authentication, lock your carrier account with a PIN, and practice good data hygiene.
