XP, Levels and the Leaderboard: How Learn and Earn Works
How XP, levels, hearts and the leaderboard actually work — what earns you points, what costs you, and how to climb without burning out.
Short answer: You earn XP for completing lessons and assessments. XP raises your level and your position on the live leaderboard. You also earn coins, which are spendable. Hearts are your attempts — wrong answers cost them, and they regenerate over time.

XP — the score that never goes down
XP is the main progression currency. You earn it by:
- Completing lessons
- Passing assessments and quizzes
- Finishing a League — a large one-off award
- Completing AI practice sessions tied to a League
- Daily and weekly challenges (Pro)
XP is cumulative and never decreases. Your level is derived from your total XP, so levelling up is automatic.
Coins — the currency you spend
Coins are separate from XP. XP is your rank; coins are your wallet.
| Spend coins on | Why |
|---|---|
| Money off a certificate | Up to 10% off at checkout — the most valuable use |
| Heart refills | 50 coins on free, 20 on Pro |
| Aura Shop items | Merchandise and profile cosmetics |
💰 Save your coins for a certificate. A 10% discount is real money; a cosmetic is not.
Hearts — why wrong answers matter
Hearts are your attempts. Get something wrong and you lose one. Run out and you wait for them to regenerate — which is what stops the game being mindless guessing.
| Free | Pro | |
|---|---|---|
| Heart slots | Standard | Double |
| Regeneration | 1 every 20 minutes | 1 every 5 minutes |
| Refill cost | 50 coins | 20 coins |
The 20-minute wait is the single biggest friction on the free plan. If you are grinding several Leagues, that is usually what pushes people to Pro.
The leaderboard and the Hall of Fame
Your XP places you on a live leaderboard against everyone else learning right now. The Hall of Fame tracks the all-time standouts — XP masters, streak holders and top performers. Leaderboards reset periodically, so a late start is not a permanent disadvantage.
Pro members also get the Pro Rewards Track — a separate daily, weekly and monthly XP race with its own rewards.

How to climb without burning out
- Consistency beats marathons. Ten minutes a day outscores one four-hour Sunday, and it protects your streak
- Do not guess to save time. Guessing costs hearts and then costs you twenty minutes
- Finish Leagues, do not collect them. The completion award is large; three half-done Leagues earn less than one finished
- Bank coins for a certificate rather than spending them on refills
- Play the challenges if you are on Pro — they are free XP you have already paid for
