How to Organize an Event as an Student on Uptoskills
Creating an event on UpToSkills is quick and simple. Go to My Events, click Create Event, upload images, add basic details, set the date, time, and location, and configure event settings like participants, privacy, and approvals. After choosing a theme color and accepting the terms, click Create Event to publish your event instantly.
Step 1: Navigate to the Events Section
Access the Uptoskills dashboard and click on "My Events" in the left sidebar navigation menu. This will take you to the Events management page where you can view all your created and registered events. From here, you'll see options for "My Events" (events you've created) and "My Registrations" (events you've registered for).
Step 2: Click the "Create Event" Button
On the Events page, click the purple "Create Event" button in the top-right corner. This will navigate you to the event creation form where you can input all the details for your new event.
Step 3: Upload Event Images
The first section on the creation form is "Event Images." This section has two image upload areas:
• Event Logo (Square - 400x400px): Upload a square logo image for your event. Specifications: 400x400px, PNG/JPG format, maximum 5MB file size.
• Event Banner (Rectangle - 1200x630px): Upload a rectangular banner image. Specifications: 1200x630px, PNG/JPG format, maximum 10MB file size.
Both images are optional but recommended for better visual representation of your event.
Step 4: Fill in Basic Information
Under the "Basic Information" section, fill in the following required and optional fields:
• Event Title (Required - marked with *): Enter a catchy and descriptive title for your event. This is what people will see when searching or browsing events.
• Description (Optional): Provide a detailed description of what your event is about. Tell people what to expect, the agenda, and any important information they need to know.
Step 5: Set Date & Time
In the "Date & Time" section, you'll configure when your event takes place:
• Start Date & Time (Required): Select the date and time when your event begins. Use the date-time picker in the format dd-mm-yyyy --:-- (including hours and minutes).
• End Date & Time (Optional): Select when your event ends. This helps participants understand the duration of the event.
Step 6: Choose Event Location
In the "Location" section, select one of two options:
• Online: Choose this if your event will be held virtually. When selected, you'll see a field to enter a "Meeting link (Zoom, Meet, etc.)". Paste your online meeting link here.
• In Person: Choose this if your event will be held at a physical location. You may need to provide location details in a separate field.
Make sure to click the appropriate button to indicate whether your event is online or in-person.
Step 7: Configure Event Settings
The "Event Settings" section allows you to customize:
• Max Participants (Optional): Set the maximum number of participants allowed. Enter "Unlimited" to allow unlimited registrations, or enter a specific number to cap attendance.
• Privacy: Choose between two options:
- Public: Anyone on the platform can see and register for your event.
- Private: Only invited users or those with the event link can see and register.
Step 8: Select Theme Color
In the "Theme" section, choose a color scheme for your event. Click on any of the available color options to customize the visual theme. Options include multiple colors like purple, pink, orange, cyan, blue, gray, and more.
Step 9: Configure Registration Approval
You'll see a checkbox option for "Require approval for registrations."
• If checked: You'll need to manually approve each participant who registers for your event.
• If unchecked: Participants will be automatically registered once they submit their registration.
Step 10: Accept Terms & Conditions
Before creating your event, you must check the checkbox that states: "I agree to the Terms & Conditions and Privacy Policy."
This is a required step. Click the link in the text to review the full terms if needed.
Step 12: Create the Event
Once you've filled in all required information, reviewed everything, and accepted the terms, click the "Create Event" button. The button will be enabled (active) once all mandatory fields are completed. Your event will be created and published on the platform.
