About the Competition

About

In an era of remote collaboration, real-time communication is the backbone of our digital world. From team meetings to global webinars, platforms like Google Meet and Zoom have become indispensable. Now, it's your turn to build the next big thing!

We challenge you, the brightest minds in development, to build a functional, real-time audio/video communication platform from the ground up. 🚀

Using the power of WebRTC and your choice of the MERN, SERN, or PERN stack, you will design, develop, and deploy an application that connects users seamlessly. This is more than just a coding competition; it's a chance to dive deep into the world of peer-to-peer connections, data channels, and low-latency streaming.

Projects will be judged on the following criteria:

  • Technical Implementation (40%): Quality of code, use of WebRTC, and successful implementation of the core challenge features.
  • Innovation & Features (30%): The creativity of your solution and the implementation of any bonus or unique features.
  • User Experience (UI/UX) (20%): The clarity, design, and usability of your application's user interface.
  • Presentation & Demo (10%): The clarity and effectiveness of your project demo video and explanation.
  • Number of Users can join in the single Room/Meet. (There should be no limit on the number of users joining in the Room/Meet) .

Whether you're a full-stack wizard, a frontend fanatic, or a backend guru, this is your arena. Assemble your team, sharpen your skills, and get ready to forge the future of connection! 💻🎤

  • Room Management: Ability for users to create, join, or leave a communication room.
  • Real-Time Video/Audio: Flawless, multi-party video and audio streaming using WebRTC.
  • Basic Controls: In-call controls like mute/unmute microphone and enable/disable camera.
  • ✨ Bonus Points for implementing features like screen sharing, a text-based chat within the room, or a participant list.

Challenges

Host & Participant Management

Host & Participant Management

A great communication platform needs a system for managing a session. For this challenge, you will implement a Host System to give one user a higher level of control. The host should have the ability to: - Mute/Unmute any participant's microphone. - Enable/Disable any participant's video. - Remove/Kick a participant from the call. This challenge requires careful management of signaling and state across all connected peers.

The Collaboration Toolkit

The Collaboration Toolkit

Beyond video and audio, a platform becomes truly collaborative with additional tools. For this challenge, you must implement a text-based chat system within the call. Users should be able to send and receive messages in real-time within the same room. Additionally, you must integrate a Screen Share feature, allowing any participant to share their entire screen or a specific window with everyone else in the call. This challenge emphasizes managing multiple data streams—audio, video, and data (for both chat and screen sharing)—simultaneously.
